The Best and Worst Beauty Trends of 2010

JENNIFER HUDSON RETRO

Best Beauty Trend: Retro Everything
Everything old (winged liner, beehives, Veronica Lake waves) became brand-new again when a slew of young celebs took classic hair and makeup looks and made 'em their own. Sophistication is officially back—it's like those Paris Hilton crotch-flashing days never happened.

Best Beauty Trend: Glitter for Adults
You don't have to be Lady Gaga to rock sparkly eyes -- everyone was doing it in 2010. Keep it simple: "Don’t cover your whole lid. Use glitter as liner to avoid looking like a disco ball," says makeup pro Mario Dedivanovic. Just trace it along upper lash lines or the inner corners of the eyes. And hold a tissue under eyes while applying to keep flecks off your cheeks.

Best Beauty Trend: The Undone Bun
Being imperfect was, well, perfect this year, with messy chignons showing up everywhere from brunch to cocktails. For the not-trying-too-hard effect, never mind the styling products. Simply pull your hair back into a loose bun and let wisps hang down around your face.
